ARTIST TALK _ HAUS DER KUNST JUNIOREN, Munich 2014
"A room is not a room, an image not an image, a moment beyond context the vague notion of truth. Instead of fitting into the grid, it's about finding the gaps."
Asked by the Junioren Haus der Kunst, to give an insight in her working and thinking, Kumpermond set up a fictious studio in Munich for a special evening and special guests. The minimalistic look and feel of the studio built in the 70s, at the same time industrial but also very humanly rooted, enforced the concept of Kumpermond’s work to investigate into the physical and spatial materiality, into a representation beyond image, into an abstract overall concept of the human substance beyond portrayal depiction. When pigments travel through the canvas like a neuronal imprint of an individual qualia/ experience set as well as pattern thinking of collective memories, the dimension beyond a one dimensional view of the world could be felt.
